At present, machining centers are evolving toward 5-axis control. Workpieces with various shapes on multiple sides can be machined in a single clamping. The 5-axis machining center is an internationally advanced professional 5-axis equipment, specially designed for processing non-metallic and non-ferrous metal materials. It can machine complex spatial curved surfaces with high precision. Currently, both military and private enterprises adopt 5-axis equipment for machining. Inch and 5-axis machine tools can process all kinds of complex workpieces, simplify machining procedures and complexity, and reduce enterprise production costs.
A 5-axis machining center has five axes, namely Axis A, Axis C and XYZ axes. When Axis A and Axis C work in conjunction with the XYZ three linear axes, complex spatial curved surfaces can be machined. This allows the workpiece to be positioned at any angle, enabling the machining of inclined surfaces, holes and intricate workpieces.
The application of 5-axis machining centers turns impossibility into reality. Integrating functions such as milling, engraving, cutting, punching and grooving, it simplifies the machining of various complex workpieces. It not only meets our requirements but also cuts production costs, creating substantial business opportunities and benefits for enterprises.
Shenyang Dali Machinery: Application Scope of 5-Axis Machining Centers
Box-type workpieces generally require multi-station hole systems and surface machining with high positioning accuracy. When processed on a machining center, 60% ~ 95% of the machining content that would normally be done on conventional machine tools can be completed in one clamping.
Complex curved surfaces can usually be machined with 3-axis linkage using ball-end milling cutters, delivering high accuracy yet low efficiency. If interference zones or blind areas exist during machining, 4-axis or 5-axis linkage machine tools are required, such as for aircraft and automotive contours, impellers, propellers and various forming molds.
Special-shaped parts feature irregular profiles and mostly require mixed multi-station machining of points, lines and surfaces. For special-shaped parts, the more intricate the shape and the higher the precision requirement, the greater the advantages of using a machining center, e.g. mobile phone housings.
Disc, sleeve and plate workpieces include disc, sleeve or shaft parts with keyways, radial holes, hole systems and curved surfaces distributed on the end face, such as flanged shaft sleeves, shaft parts with keyways or square heads, and perforated plate parts such as various motor covers.
Special machining operations can also be performed on machining centers. If a frequency-modulated EDM power supply is fitted on the spindle, surface hardening treatment can be carried out on metal surfaces.
Shenyang Dali Machinery: Future Development of 5-Axis Machining Centers Nowadays, machining centers have gradually become mainstream equipment in the mechanical processing industry, featuring a wide machining range and large consumption. In recent years, great progress has been made in product variety, performance and functionality. New 5-axis machining centers are available for aerospace component machining. High-performance machining centers dedicated to mold processing, integrated with 3D CAD/CAM, deliver ultra-precision finishing for complex mold curved surfaces. High-speed machining centers suitable for mass production of automotive and motorcycle parts boast high productivity and flexibility.
